Our entire Collective provides invaluable guidance and cultural insight, helping to ensure our work remains rooted in the needs and experiences of the community. Together, this diverse group embodies the spirit of collaboration and shared purpose that drives us forward.

Board of Directors

The Leadership Circle (Board of Directors) are responsible for guiding the Collective by overseeing its activities, programs, and resources. Members meet periodically - typically monthly - to discuss and make key decisions that shape the organization's direction and impact.

Although most governance positions are filled, we are still seeking strong, dedicated individuals to join the Leadership Circle, specifically in the roles of Treasurer and Secretary. If you’re passionate about making a difference and have the skills to contribute to our mission, we’d love to hear from you!

Youth Leaders

Halton Black Student Union

The Halton Black Student Union (HBSU) is a dynamic group of student leaders dedicated to creating positive change and fostering a sense of community in Halton’s schools. Meeting twice a month during the school year, the HBSU is made up of elected representatives from the Halton District School Board, Halton Catholic District School Board, and local private secondary schools.

    • Advocate for Change: Members address issues affecting Black students and work collaboratively to create equitable solutions within their schools.

    • Build Connections: The HBSU serves as a bridge between students, educators, and community organizations, fostering dialogue and understanding.

    • Develop Leadership Skills: Students gain hands-on experience in leadership, public speaking, event planning, and activism.

  • A Pathway to Leadership

Joining the HBSU is more than just an opportunity to get involved—it’s the first step in a pathway toward meaningful leadership. By participating in HBSU, students gain valuable skills and insights that can help them transition into larger roles within their community.

For those passionate about continuing to make a difference after high school, the Leadership Circle at Halton Black Voices offers the perfect next step. As students grow into young leaders, they can bring their experiences and advocacy skills to the table, influencing decisions that drive lasting impact.

  • If you’re a student or youth looking to give back, make a difference, and grow as a leader, the HBSU is the perfect starting point. Your journey from school representative to a key contributor on the Leadership Circle starts here. Together, we can build a stronger, more inclusive future for Halton.
