Who We Are

Founded in 2020

Halton Black Voices (HBV) is a community-led collective committed to dismantling anti-Black racism and systemic oppression while building collective power within Halton’s Black communities. Through advocacy, community organizing, youth and family support, and anti-racist policy work, HBV works to create safer, more equitable spaces where Black voices are amplified and affirmed. Grounded in accountability, education, and partnership — including solidarity with Indigenous communities — our work centers Black liberation, empowers youth through the Halton Black Student Union, and drives meaningful change toward a more just and inclusive society.

❋ Wellness + Healing

We hold space for collective Black healing by creating programs and gatherings that support mental wellness, care, and restoration in our community.

❋ Education

We offer inclusive learning spaces grounded in anti-oppression and equity, where people of all ages — young and mature — can learn, grow, and deepen understanding together.

❋ Leadership

We cultivate leadership in youth and community members, building programs and spaces that drive meaningful change for underserved residents and newcomers.

❋ Community

We build and strengthen the Black community through meaningful programs and community events that educate, empower, and connect people of all ages and abilities. Our spaces are welcoming, safe, and rooted in care, respect, and belonging.

  • "The space provided a sense of belonging and togetherness where we felt safe and empowered to discuss the struggles as well as success we have had dealing with systematic racism, anti Blackness as well as white supremacy within our individual lives."

  • "AI believe this space that’s been created and helps Black kids is great. An amazing organization that I would have loved my daughter to be on. From hearing her brother’s sessions she often asks ‘When is my tutoring?’ This is a testament that clearly demonstrates the strong appeal of your program to kids!"
