How we rebuild

stronger + more equitable COMMUNITY spaces

We will work together to dismantle all forms of oppression, violence, and brutality against BIPOC community members. As a more informed and socially conscious collective, we will think critically about the roles we have all played in maintaining current inequities and discover new pathways towards a more fair and just society together.

DISMANTLE anti-black racism + decolonization

Halton Black Voices creates safe spaces to discover and acknowledge the truth of our experiences with others in our community. We intend to elevate Black consciousness by affirming Black existence and encouraging self love, determination, and enlightenment to move towards Black liberation. We collectively work with Indigenous communities to build reciprocal awareness of our experiences and move forward together to dismantle systemic oppression and inequity.

empower the youth + support families

The Halton Black Student Union (HBSU) was founded in early 2021, to support Black students and Black well-being in Halton. The HBSU provides a safe place to talk about issues and problems that Black students face in and out of school, as well as a space where they can get support to deal with how these issues have impacted them. In the Halton Black Student Union, we have much-needed conversations about everything related to the diverse Black lived experience and give Black community members and activists the opportunity to educate and inspire HBSU members.

community organizing + anti -racist policymaking
