The Commitment

Taking Action: Join the Monthly Organizing Meetings and Make an Impact

Are you passionate about enacting change and driving progress? Halton Black Voices presents an invaluable opportunity for individuals committed to social justice and building collective power. By attending our monthly organizing meetings, you can actively contribute to creating a more inclusive society. Additionally, for those seeking a more immersive role, consider becoming part of the school board’s committees focused on policy, anti-racism, and equity, with a minimum commitment of two years.

Joining our monthly organizing meetings is an excellent starting point for individuals who want to be part of the solution. These meetings serve as a hub for discussing pertinent issues affecting our community and devising effective strategies to address them. You will have the opportunity to collaborate, share ideas, and network with other like-minded individuals invested in creating positive change. For those looking to make a deeper and more sustained impact, we invite you to sit on A.R.C. with us. This collective spearheads our efforts towards policy development, anti-racism initiatives, and equity enhancement. By dedicating a minimum of two years to this role, you will acquire an in-depth understanding of the complex challenges facing our community and be a driving force in implementing effective solutions.

Training connected to board procedure and lobbying will be provided to equip you with the necessary skills and knowledge to navigate the intricate world of policy-making. This training will empower you to advocate for the rights and needs of the Black community effectively. Through lobbying efforts, you can amplify our collective voice and work towards dismantling systemic barriers that perpetuate inequity. By attending monthly organizing meetings or joining A.R.C, you will be joining a passionate and dynamic community of individuals striving for racial justice. Together, we can foster a society that values equality, dismantles systemic racism, and promotes social equity.

We are thrilled to welcome new members who are ready to make a tangible difference. Together, we can bring about lasting change and build a brighter future. To embark on this transformative journey, please reach out to us at education@haltonblackvoices.ca (see details below).

AWARENESS

Halton Black Voices will create a safe space to discover and acknowledge the truth of our experiences with others in our community. We intend to elevate Black consciousness by affirming Black existence and encouraging self love, determination, and enlightenment to move towards Black liberation. We will work in solidarity with Indigenous communities to build reciprocal awareness of our experiences and move forward together to dismantle systemic oppression and inequity. We hope to encourage critical thinking by creating a conversational forum where deep thinkers can discuss issues of inequities without judgment. We will facilitate these conversations and support the development of knowledge through book recommendations, knowledge sharing and other resources.
